Pit Boss pellet grills are expensive. Not only do you have the big-ticket item purchase, but you also have to buy wood pellets and other accessories. You’ll likely end up spending more on your new smoker than you would on your typical gas and charcoal grill. Therefore, I thought I would summarize the coverage, terms, and duration of the Pit Boss pellet grill.
What Is The Warranty on a Pit Boss Pellet Grill?
All Pit Boss pellet grills and smokers are covered under a limited five-year warranty from the date of sale. There is a five-year warranty against defects and workmanship on all parts and all electrical components. It doesn’t cover any damage from normal wear and tears such as; dings, chips, scratches, etc.
The Pit Boss 5-year warranty went into effect on 9/3/2018.
Anyone who purchased their grill before this year will fall under their old warranty of a one-year limited warranty.

What Is The Pit Boss Warranty?
It is a written promise from Dansons, the manufacturer of Pit Boss wood pellet grills, to repair, replace, certain types of defects, specified parts, or other conditions.
From a consumer aspect, this can be confusing. After all, what happens if you buy a Pit Boss pellet grill and the grill starts shutting down for no reason?
Well, below I’ve summarized which parts of the grill are covered and what’s not.

- Dries tack-free in 15minutes or less
- Protects against rust
- Not for use on cooking surfaces
How to Register the Pit Boss Warranty?
After your purchase, you’ll want to register your Pit Boss grill on the website by visiting this link. Follow the instructions on the site.
Should You Register Your Pit Boss Grill?
Yes, it doesn’t cost anything and the date you purchased the grill will be in one place. Not only that, but Pit Boss will give you a 25% coupon off when you register your new product.
If you decide not to register your product, make sure you keep a copy of the receipt. You will be required to show proof of purchase when you file a claim.
How to Use the Warranty?
If you are having issues with your grill and it falls under the limited warranty, you’ll want to follow these steps to make a claim.
Contact the Pit Boss customer service.
Their support system will attempt to resolve the issues. If they are unable to or find that you have a defective grill, they will send you a replacement part.
The warranty only covers replacement for defective parts, not labor costs, or consequential or incidental damages.
It could take several days or weeks to receive the replacement part. If your grill is under warranty and they are sending you a replacement part, you likely won’t have to pay for shipping.
When they sent me my replacement screw package, I didn’t have to pay for shipping. That said, it took over two weeks to receive the part.
Many people on online forums have stated that instead of waiting for the replacement part and not being able to use your grill, you may want to order it on your own.
When you get the replacement part from Pit Boss, you’ll have an extra, if anything needs to be replaced.

The limitations of the warranty will vary from state to state, so be sure to check with Pit Boss to see what your state entails.
Does Pit Boss Have The Best Warranty?
With so many different manufacturers available on the market, it’s easy to wonder if you’re getting the best coverage for your money. All companies offer their own warranty. That’s why I’ve decided to this article on the different warranties of pellet grills.
It’ll help you determine which brand offers the best warranty.
According to the manual, Pit Boss has taken every safeguard to prevent rust. However, rust occurs from various factors out of their control, therefore, the warranty does not protect grills affected from rust or oxidation.
The only exception would be if there is a loss of structural integrity of the grill component.
Hopefully, this helps you understand how the Pit Boss warranty works and what’s covered and what isn’t. All reputable grills have their own warranty, so it’s important to do your due diligence before buying one.
If you’re considering buying a Pit Boss pellet grill, it’s nice to know that you’re protected with a five-year warranty!
