There are certain food limitations for certain religions. If you know you are going to be cooking for someone who does not eat pork, you should marinate them in separate containers.
Many people also have allergies to certain foods, especially shrimp. Knowing this ahead of time will save your guests from having to skip the meat you so lovingly prepared.
While you are fine to marinate different meats together, it is a good idea to be knowledgeable about your guests so you can avoid running into any dietary restrictions.
What Else Can I Marinate With Meats?
The main thing people throw in with the meat when they are marinating it is vegetables. This is also a perfectly safe thing to do. While the meat will not add much flavor to the vegetables, the vegetables will add flavor to the meat.
